The Cyclones take down the Tigers
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Highway 91 Cyclones traveled to North Bend to fight the Tigers on Monday, September 23rd. The Cyclones won in seven innings 14-8.
In the top of the first inning, junior Annemarie Slaughter singled on a ground ball to the pitcher. Next sophomore Autumn Slaughter doubled on a fly ball to right field and advanced Annemarie to 3rd base. In the second inning, sophomore Reese Bruhn is hit by the pitch and advances to 1st base. Annemarie Slaughter hits a pop fly reaches on an error and scores Bruhn while junior Hannah Cech advances to third. Autumn hits a ground ball reaches on an error and scores her sister Annemarie and Cech.
In the top of the third inning, leading off, freshman Mattie Rayback reaches on a walk and senior Adyson Krupka courtesy runs. Freshman Brittny Faltys hits a ground ball to the shortstop and Krupka is out at second on a fielder’s choice. Sophomore Allie Dirkschneider singles on a fly ball to right field and advances Faltys to 3rd. Reese Bruhn singles on a hard ground ball to left and Dirkschneider advances to 3rd.
In the top of the fourth, Cech reaches on a walk. Annemarie Slaughter grounds out to shortstop, but scores Cech. Autumn Slaughter singles on a line drive to right field. Senior Jordyn Ratzlaff reaches on a walk. Rayback singles on a ground ball to left field scoring one runner and advancing another runner. Faltys singles on a ground ball to center field, advancing Ratzlaff to 3rd and courtesy runner Krupka to 2nd. Ratzlaff steals home and Dirkschneider reaches on an error by the shortstop while Krupka and Faltys each advance one base. Reese Bruhn hits a ground ball and reaches on an error by the second baseman while scoring one and advancing a runner.
In the fifth, Annemarie reaches on an error by the shortstop. Autumn doubles on a fly ball to right field and scores Annemarie. Rayback doubles on a ground ball to left, scoring Autumn. Faltys triples on a fly ball to right field scoring courtesy runner Ady Krupka.
In the sixth inning, Reese Bruhn reaches on an error by the third baseman. Annemarie singles on a ground ball to center field and scores Bruhn. Autumn triples on a fly ball to right, scoring Annemarie. Ratzlaff walks on. Rayback hits a hard ground ball and reaches on an error by the shortstop, scoring Autumn and advancing Ratzlaff to 2nd.
In the seventh, sophomore Reann Bruhn singles on a fly ball to right field, but the top half was short, so the Cyclones had to keep the home team from scoring 6 runs. Ending the game, junior Jocelyn Donnelly makes a double play at third base.
