Conference volleyball for the Lady Jags

On Thursday, October 16, and Saturday, October 18, the Howells-Dodge Jaguars played in the Eastern Husker Conference tournament. They kicked off the tournament by hosting Wakefield in Howells. This game wasn’t too much of a challenge as they got the job done in 2 sets, (18-25), (10-25). The team had 25 kills. Audrey Brabec, Kylie Brichacek, and Peyten Becker all led the team with 5 kills each. They also had 21 digs. 

Later that same night, they faced off against the winner of the Tekama-Herman and Northbend Central game two. Howells-Dodge faced North Bend in game three, and they put their battle faces on and fought hard to secure the win in 2 sets (25-23), (25-17). Kylie Brichacek led the team with 10 out of the 28 total kills, Peyten with 6, and Riley had 5. They had a total of 33 digs. Mckenzie Sindelar had 8, Riley Svehla had 7, and 5 aces.

On Saturday, the Lady Jags traveled to Madison to finish out the Conference Tournament match. In the semifinal match, the Lady Jags lost in 2 sets to the Oakland-Craig Knights (25-15), (25-21). They collected a total of 18 kills in these 2 sets. Bella Koliha had 6, Peyten Becker and Kylie Brichacek had 4 each, Isabella Wegner had 2, and Audrey Brabec and Riley Svehla had 1 each. The team had a total of 2 aces, Bella and McKenzie Sindelar each with 1. The Lady Jags had a total of 27 digs in the match. Peyten with 7, McKenzie with 6, Riley and Kylie each with 5, Brynn Throener with 2, and Isabella and Audrey each with 1. The team had a total of 18 assists, with 13 of them provided by Riley Svehla. Bella had 4, and Brynn with 1. 

In the consolation match, the Jaguars faced the Stanton Mustangs. The Lady Jags finished the Conference Tournament in 4th place with a 2-set loss to the Mustangs (25-21), (26-24). The Jags had 23 kills in the match. Peyten with 6, Audrey and Bella each with 5, Kylie with 4, Isabella with 2, and Riley with 1. They had a total of 6 aces. Riley with 3, Reagan Bayer, Peyten, and McKenzie each with 1. The Lady Jags had a total of 30 digs. Brynn and McKenzie with 8 each, Reagan and Peyten with 4, Kylie and Riley with 2, and Isabella and Ava Koliha with 1 each. The team had a total of 20 assists, with 17 of them provided by Riley, McKenzie with 2, and Addison Heard with 1. 

The Lady Jags will host their last home regular-season game on Tuesday, October 21, in Dodge against North Bend Central. This game is also parents' night for the volleyball players.
