Jaguars head to the state tournament

The Jaguars girls' basketball team took on Bancroft Rosalie in a very intense game. Kylie had a very good game, scoring 12 points, getting 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Audrey Brabec also had a great game, scoring 10 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Addison scored 3 points and got 1 rebound. Kenadie scored 14 points, had 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Howells Dodge and Bancroft Rosalie engaged in a 4 quarter defensive battle for the district Championship. HD used a 7-0 run in the 3rd quarter to retake the lead, which they would not relinquish. HDC won with the final score being 39-34. HD struggled on offense in the half, shooting just 1-11 from 3, committing 8 turnovers. In the 2nd half, they cut the turnovers in half and finished 13-40 in the game. HD makes its 3rd straight State Tournament, playing Maywood-Hayes Center at BDSC at 7:45 on Thursday night. Now some wise words from Coach. P, “It wasn't a great shooting night for us, and BR made us work for every point. It's nice to know that when the offense is a little slow, we can still hold a team below 35 points.” Maywood Hayes Center is a quick team that passes for the entire game. We will need to handle that pressure and slow down their transition game. We are very excited for the opportunity to have another shot in Lincoln.
