Softball competes in Lakeview tournament

The tournament that the Highway 91 Cyclones went to on September 9th ended in two losses and a win. They started out the tournament playing against Lakeview, followed by Boone Central, and ended the day with Tekamah- Herman. By the first inning, the Cyclones fought but were unable to get any points. However, the story changed in the second inning as they managed to gain two runs. Continuing the streak for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings, the team scored one run. Ending the game with a total of five runs. Also in the first game, they had 5 RBI’s (1 each for Grace Hansen, Shaylynn Marty, Bailey Rios, Reese Bruhn, and Rebecca Hastreiter). A total of 14 putouts, with Reese Bruhn accounting for 6 of those. In the second game against Boone Central, the team took the lead by gaining 3 runs in the first inning, but could not continue gaining runs until the third inning. Ultimately, the team gained a total of four runs by the end of the game. Following the score, they had 4 RBI’s, and the team recorded a total of 18 putouts. The pitchers Mattie and Reese had a combined 5 strikeouts. Lastly, in the game against Tekamah-Herman, the Cyclones gained a run in the first inning, tying the game. Although the second game was a bit rocky, they were able to gain three more runs in the third inning of their third game. In the sixth inning, the team gained another run, winning the game with a score of 5-4. The team had 5 RBIs this game, followed by 2 runs by Reese. Out of the 18 putouts in the entire game, Reese had 11. The Highway 91 Cyclones walked away with a record of 2-10. The team will be back on the field Thursday, September 17th against NEN.
