Lady Jags Volleyball Conference Tournament
On Thursday, October 17th the #6 seed team, the Lady Jags, started Conference Tournament play with a game against the #11 seed team, the Wakefield Trojans. The Jags won both sets; the first set being 25-16, and the second set being 31-29.
Leading the team for kills was sophomore Kylie Brichacek with 8 kills. Next was senior Ava Noyd with 5. Sophomore Audrey Brabec had 4. Lastly, sophomore Peyten Becker with 3.
Audrey Brabec had the only 1 block of the game.
Senior Taylor Steffensmeier had the most assists with 13. Behind was freshman Riley Svehla with 4.
With 10 digs, senior Jade Bayer led the Jags. Taylor Steffensmeier and Kylie Brichacek both had 7. Finally was Peyten Becker with 6 digs.
After the win against Wakefield, the Jags took on the #3 seed team, the Humphrey Bulldogs. The first set ended 17-25. The Jags were closer in the second set with 21-25. The Jags put up a good fight, but the Bulldogs put up a better fight.
Kylie Brichacek led the team again for kills with 6. Taylor Steffensmeier and Ava Noyd had 4. Peyten and Audrey had 3.
Taylor Steffensmeier, Ava Noyd, and Kylie Brichacek all had 2 blocks for the night.
Leading the Jags for assists, yet again, was Taylor Steffensmeier with 13. Riley Svehla followed behind with 5.
With the most digs, again, was Jade Bayer with 15. Taylor Steffensmeier had 7. With 6 were Peyten Becker and Riley Svehla.
On Saturday, October 19, as a result of Thursday night’s matches, the Jags were put in a bracket with the top four seeds that lost on Thursday night. The Jags first faced the West Point-Beemer Cadets and lost a close two-set battle. The first set was close, the Lady Jags losing 22-25 and the second 14-25.
Ava Noyd led the team in kills with 9, followed by Peyten Becker with 5, Kylie Brichacek with 3, and both sophomore Bella Koliha and Audrey Brabec with 2.
Senior Jade Bayer had 15 digs, Peyten Becker had 10, Kylie Brichacek had 6, and Taylor Steffensmeier had 5.
Ava Noyd put up 3 blocks, Taylor Steffensmeier had 2, and Bella Koliha, Peyten Becker, and Audrey Brabec each put up 1. Ava Noyd had 1 ace.
Taylor Steffensmeir and Riley Svehla each dished out 10 assists.
In the Jaguar's second match of the day, they battled the Wisner-Pilger Gators. They put up a good fight, but it was not enough and the Gators beat the Jags in another close match. The first set was 23-25 and the second was 18-25.
Leading the team in kills was Ava Noyd with 7, followed by Kylie Brichacek with 6, and Audrey Brabec with 5.
Defensively for the Jags, Jade Bayer had 14 digs, Kylie Brichacek had 13, Riley Svehla had 12, and Peyten Becker had 9.
Ava Noyd led the team in blocks with 3, Peyten Becker put up 2, and Audrey Brabec had 1. Ava Noyd and Jade Bayer each had 1 ace. Taylor Steffensmeier had 12 assists and Riley Svehla had 7.
