Jaguars fall to Riverside
On Friday, October 4th the Jaguars took on the Riverside Chargers. The Jaguars ended up losing their first game of the season 44-20.
In the first quarter of the game, the Chargers scored first but had a failed two-point conversion. With 6:26 to go Dane Meyer ran a 1-yard run to score for the Jaguars to tie the game. The Jaguars did not get the two-point conversion. The Chargers were able to put up another touchdown and ran in for a two-point conversion to end the first quarter 14-6.
The second quarter had 8 points scored by the Jaguars and 16 points scored by the Chargers. The first touchdown and two-point conversion was made by the Chargers. With 9:12 left in the second quarter, Dylan Brichacek ran 45 yards to score for the Jaguars. Hunter Luther ran in a two-point conversion for the Jaguars. The Jaguar defense couldn’t hold the Charges and the Charges scored on a 70-yard run. The Chargers also ran in a two-point conversion.
Hunter Luther ran in a 5-yard touchdown to score the only points in the third quarter. The Jags weren’t able to complete the two-point conversion. Making the score at the end of the third quarter 30-20 with the Chargers leading.
The Jaguars couldn’t hold the Chargers on defense during the fourth quarter and the Chargers scored two more touchdowns. The Chargers won the game 44-20.
Here are some of the stats of the Jaguars. Hunter Luther led in total yards with 156. Dylan Brichacek follows with 92 yards. Dane Meyer had 77 yards. Grant Perrin had 25 yards and Oliver Belina had 14 yards. Brichacek and Nathan Tomcak each had 1 sack for the game. Leading in solo tackles was Brichacek with 10. Dane Meyer had 5 solo tackles and Konner Bourek had 4 solo tackles. Oliver Belina had 2 solo tackles. Nathan Tomcak had 1 solo tackle.
Coach Dobbins said, “ Riverside was real fast and had a good game plan. Our eye discipline wasn’t real great and put us in poor positions at times. We need to on ASKA and shorten some things up”.
The Jaguars will take on the Osceola Bulldogs at Osceola starting at 7 pm on October 11th.
