The Jaguars defeated the Eagles
Howells-Dodge Jaguars matched up against the Nebraska Christian Eagles on the Jaguars territory on September 23rd at 7 p.m. The final score was 56 to 30. That makes the Jags 4-0 for the season.
The Jaguars scored the first ten seconds in the first quarter on a 65-yard run by Hunter Luther. Near the middle of the first quarter, Dylan Brichacek got an interception return for 40 yards.
In the second quarter, Hunter Luther made a 37-yard touchdown. Hunter Luther then scored the two-point conversion for the Jags. For the second touchdown of the second quarter, Hunter Luther made a 38-yard run touchdown. Oliver Belina scored the two-point conversion. Hunter Luther then made a 53-yard run touchdown. Dane Mayer punched a 4 yard run into the endzone. For the final touchdown of the second quarter, Hunter Luther made a 65 yard touchdown. Oliver Belina yet again scored a two-point conversion. The ending score of the second quarter was 36-8.
The last touchdown of the game for the Jags was made by Oliver Belina who ran 35 yards to score. Oliver Belina also scored another two-point conversion to add another win for the Jags.
Coach Speirs had this to say at the end of the game. “We were happy with the effort the boys played with against Nebraska Christian. We had a few mental errors that we had to clean up, but otherwise, it was a solid effort.The offensive line did a nice job of opening some good running lanes and the running backs did a good job finding the lanes”.
This Friday, September 27th the Howells-Dodge Jaguars will go against the Fullerton Warriors. The game will take place in Fullerton and kick-off is at 7 p.m.
