Jags start playoffs with a win
On Thursday, October 24, the Howells-Dodge Jaguars took on the Elmwood-Murdock Knights and won 44-0. During the first quarter, junior Hunter Luther started the game with a 49-yard run to score the first touchdown. Following him was freshman Oliver Belina with a 2-point conversion. After the first quarter, the score was 8-0.
In the second quarter, Luther had another 8-yard run, as well as a 2-point conversion to make the score 14-0. Junior Dane Meyer had a 7-yard run to score another touchdown. At the end of the second quarter, the Jags were up 22-0. In the third quarter, Luther scored on a 29-yard run with another 2-point conversion with Belina. Following him, senior Dylan Brichacek scored a touchdown on a 31-yard run. After the third quarter, the score was 36-0. In the fourth quarter, Dane Meyer had a 14-yard run. At the end of the fourth quarter, the score was 44-0, moving the Jags onto the next round of playoffs.
Hunter Luther led the team in rushing yards with 180, followed by Dylan Brichacek with 37. Dane Meyer ended with 25 yards, and Oliver Belina had 20. Dane Meyer was the only player with passing yards, with 34 yards. Dylan Brichacek led the team with 17 tackles, followed by junior Konner Bourek with 16. Senior Carson Heard acquired 8 tackles, and Hunter Luther with 5. Dane Meyer had 4 tackles, and sophomore Jax Nelson had 2 tackles. Senior Matt Brester and Oliver Belina ended the game with 1 tackle. The next round of playoffs will take place in Howells on Friday, November 1, at 7:00 p.m., against the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers.
