Lady Jags Dominate The Trojans
The Lady Jags traveled to Wakefield to face off against the Trojans on Saturday, December 7. Howells-Dodge started the first quarter strong leading the Trojans 15-2. The Lady Jags led 24-2 with 1 minute left in the 2nd quarter. In the third quarter, Wakefield responded with a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 27-9 early in the third quarter. Howells-Dodge then responded on an 11-0 run to lead 35-9 with 4 minutes remaining in the 3rd. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Jags scored an additional 21 points. Howells-Dodge shot 25-59, which is 42 percent for the game, and added 26 steals. The Lady Jags came out on top defeating Wakefield 62-16.
The top scorers for the Jags were Kenadie Throener - 12, Jade Bayer - 11, Audrey Brabec - 8, Peyten Becker - 7, and Kylie Brichacek - 7. Kylie Brichacek had 6 rebounds, followed by Audrey Brabec with 5, Jordyn Ratzlaff with 4, and Ava Noyd with 3. Kylie Brichacek led in assists with 6, and both Peyten Becker and Taylor Steffensmeier had 3. Jade Bayer had 5 steals, followed by Jordyn Ratzlaff and Kylie Brichacek with 4.
Head Coach Scott Polacek said, “ We didn’t shoot particularly well outside either night of the weekend, but our defense today gained us some easy baskets. It was a good start to the season”. The Lady Jags will play in Dodge on December 10 at 6 pm against the Aquinas Monarchs. This game will be varsity-only.
