The Lady Jags blow the bulldogs out of the water
The Lady Jags traveled to Humphrey to battle the Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family Bulldogs on Thursday, February 6th. The Jaguars made their first 4 shots and forced 4 turnovers early to lead 22-7 with 3:27 left in the 2nd quarter in the EHC 5th place game. Howells-Dodge still led 33-17 with 2:00 remaining in the 3rd, but Humphrey-Lindsay went on a big run, making 6 2nd half- 3’s. Howells-Dodge led 40-32 with 3:00 in the game and finished with 7 of 9 made free throws and one big 3-pointer. They won the game 50-38.
Head Coach Scott Polacek said, “That game was big for us for the postseason and in the EHC. 5th place in this conference is saying something since the top group is very, very strong. The girls got us a lead early, and were poised late against Humperehy Lindsay’s pressure.”

Leading the Jags in scoring on the night was senior Jordyn Ratzlaff with 15, followed by senior Jade Bayer and sophomores Peyten Becker and Kylie Brichacek each with 9, and junior Kenadie Throener with 8. Throener led the team in rebounds with 8, followed by Brichacek with 5, Ratzlaff and sophomore Audry Brabac each with 3, and Bayer with 2. Bayer led the Jags in assists with 5, Ratzlaff with 2, Becker and senior Taylor Steffensmeier each with 1. Becker had a great night on the defensive end with 6 steals, Ratzlaff had 2, and Steffensemeier and Throener with 1. Ratzlaff led in deflections with 4 followed by Bayer with 3, and Becker and Brabac with 2. Jordyn Ratzlaff was also the only one who had a block on Thursday night.
The Lady Jags play Tuesday, February 11, in Dodge against the Twin River Titans. It is Parent and Senior Night for both girls and boys.
