Lady Jags couldn’t secure the win over Bancroft-Rosalie
On Tuesday, January 21st the Lady Jags traveled to Bancroft-Rosalie to take on the Panthers. The game was a great battle between both teams as it went into overtime, but the Jags couldn’t secure the win. Howells-Dodge fell victim to 20 turnovers and just 9-13 shooting from the free throw line. They also failed to score in overtime.
In the first quarter, the Jags scored 8 points and the Panthers scored 8 points keeping the game competitive. In the second quarter, the Jags and Panthers each scored 11 points. In the third quarter, the Panthers start to take the lead scoring 14 points with the Jags only scoring 11 points. In the fourth quarter the Jags battle back to tie the game scoring 13 points and the Panthers only scoring 10. In overtime, the Panthers secured the win scoring 10 points and the Jags did not score any points in overtime. The final score was 43-53.
The top scorer for the game was sophomore Kylie Bricacek with 14 points. Seniors Jade Bayer and Jordyn Ratzlaff, junior Kenadie Throener, and sophomore Audrey Brabec all scored 6 points. Sophomore Peyten Becker scored 5 points for the night. The player who had the most assists was Becker with 3. Throener, Ratzlaff, Bayer, and Brichacek had 2 assists, and Brabec had 1.
Head Coach Scott Polacek has this to say about the game. “BR was inspired tonight; playing at home, they made some very tough shots as the shot clock expired and forced us into turnovers which they scored on. We shot well at times, but that was a frustrating game overall.”
