Jag boys get crowned
Bailey Paus
After beating Elm Creek the day before in the semi-finals, the Jaguar Varsity Boys played the McCool Junction Mustangs on Saturday, March 14, for the Class D1 State Basketball Championship. The boys played a great game and ended up winning 57-39, bringing home the gold! Chase Luther led the jags in scoring with fourteen, followed by Andre Martin with thirteen and Ethan Prusa with eleven. Rebounding and defense were two main reasons the boys were able to make it all the way. The Jaguars dominated the boards, out-rebounding McCool 37-20, and held McCool to only 39 points with a 31% field goal percentage. This game caps off the season in the best way possible, bringing another trophy back to the two towns after the girls won the week prior. The Jaguars bid farewell to an accomplished senior class that leaves behind an incredible legacy. They won the 2025 EHC Championship, 2025 D-1 State Runner-Up, and the 2026 D-1 State Championship.
