Cyclones couldn’t battle back

The Highway 91 Cyclones tried to battle this one out, but couldn't quite get there against the Pierce Bluejays on Tuesday, August 28th. The Cyclones lost 7 to 11 in seven battled out innings. The team pulled together 6 hits in all, with Allie Dirkschneider and Emma Bernhardt having two hits, Shaylynn Marty and Bailey Rios both had one hit. Hannah Cech and Bailey each had an RBI. Hannah had the team's only steal of the night, and Allie hit another double.

Fielding went thoroughly for the girls that night. Howells-Dodge players Allie and Britney Faltys went 1.000 in fielding on the night, with Allie having 4 assists. The team had a total of 3 errors.

Overall, the team was tied up going into the fifth inning, but Pierce seemed to hit the ball in the right spot as they scored seven runs that inning. Here's what Allie Dirksneider had to say on the night. “I thought the game went well up until the 5th inning. In the first 4 innings, we played like we knew how and together as a team. In the last 2 innings, they really hit the gaps, allowing them to score a lot of runs. Something that we could've done differently was to be more disciplined at the plate. We lost patience and got ahead of ourselves, and wanted to hit anything we could. In my opinion, the attitude on the field remained positive throughout the entire game, which we had struggled with in the past.”
