Cyclones are in full swing
The HWY 91 Cyclones kicked off their season playing the Polk County Slammers in Leigh on Thursday the 22nd. They fought hard and played well, but ended up losing 13-2. They went all 7 innings with senior Jordyn Ratzlaff starting in the circle for 3 and a half innings and finishing the game at shortstop. Ratzlaff allowed nine hits and struck out two while facing 22 batters. Then freshman Mattie Rayback started the game at third and ended the game in the circle. Rayback also allowed nine hits and struck out two while facing 18 batters.
Leading off for the Cyclones on offense was junior Hannah Cech (started at second). Next was sophomore Autumn Slaughter (started at shortstop) who went two and three for hits, had two stolen bases, and two singles. Jordyn Ratzlaff was third in the lineup and went one for three with one double. Freshman Brittney Faltys (who started as the catcher) got walked and flew out two times. Then it was Mattie Rayback, and next was Reese Bruhn (starting at first). After that, junior Eva Martin (starting at left field) had two plate appearances, striking out once and grounding out the second time. Pinch hitting for Eva Martin was senior Ady Krupka going one-for-one. Next was Reanne Bruhn (starting in center field). Finally was sophomore Madi Compton (starting in right field) who had 2 plate appearances striking out once and flying out once.
The Cyclones have a busy week coming up with games Monday in Albion against Boone Central, Tuesday in Leigh against Pierce (varsity only), Thursday in West Point in a triangular against GACC and Tekamah-Herman, and Saturday at the Wisner Tournament.
