Cyclones take on Aquinas
Cyclones traveled to David City to face the Aquinas Monarchs on Tuesday, September 24th. Pitching for the Cyclones was senior Jordyn Ratzlaff. She pitched against 28 batters and allowed 10 hits, and 10 runs, with 6 of the runs being earned. She also struck out four batters and walked two.
To start the first inning junior Annemarie Slaughter singled on a fly ball to right field. Next was sophomore Autumn Slaughter who singled on a fly ball to center, advancing Annemarie to second. Senior Jordyn Ratzlaff hit a fly ball to left field and reached on an error. With the bases loaded freshman Britney Faltys flies out to right causing a double play with Annemarie on third causing the third out. At the end of the first inning, the score was 3-0 Aquinas leading.
In the third inning, Ratzlaff hits a hard ground ball to shortstop and reaches on an error. Faltys also hit a hard ground ball and reached on an error by the third baseman, scoring Ratzlaff. At the end of the third inning, the score was 5-1.
In the top of the fourth inning, Reese Bruhn hit her first homerun making the score 5-2. At the end of the inning, the score was 7-2. In the top of the fifth inning, Ratzlaff advances on a walk, and shortly after that, there are three quick outs ending the game 10-2.
The Highway 91 Cyclones will travel to Tekamah to take on the Tigers and the Ponca Indians on Saturday, September 28th.
