Jags start their season 1-0

The Howells-Dodge boys basketball team started off with a big win against the Stanton Mustangs to start their season. “It was a hard-fought game against Stanton, a very physical team. The boys did a nice job of pushing the tempo and working out some of the first game jitters. Our bench did a great job of stepping up, especially after we got in foul trouble. It was a good team win,” said Head Coach Kevin Janata.

In the first quarter of the game, H-D led 20-9 right out of the gate. The Jags scored 10 points in the second quarter and Stanton scored 11. After halftime, the Jags came back and held the Mustangs to score 8 points while the Jags scored 12. In the fourth quarter, the Jags brought in the win scoring another 17 points, while Stanton only scored 2 points, and won the game 59-30.

Leading scorers for Howells-Dodge were Dane Meyer- 18, Andre Martin- 12, Briggs Ernst- 9, Cooper Kreikemeier- 6, Carson Heard- 5, Isaac Meyer- 4, Nathan Tomcak- 3, and Ethan Prusa- 2.

Leading rebounders for Howells-Dodge were Andre Martin- 8, Nathan Tomcak- 5, Cooper Kreikemeier- 4, Carson Heard- 3, Cole Bayer- 3, and Briggs Ernst- 3.

Overall, the game was a great start to the season for the Jags and we wish the Jags good luck on the rest of their season.
