The Jaguars slay the Pendragons
On Friday, February 7th, the Jaguars traveled to Pender to play in the East Husker Conference Semi-Final game. Per quarter scoring was:
HDC: 12/4/13/18 Final: 47
PPS: 8/8/11/15 Final: 42
Carson Heard and Andre Martin were on fire, each scoring 12 points. Nathan Tomcak scored 9 points; Dane Meyer and Ethan Prusa scored 9; and Hunter Luther scored 4 points. H. Luther and Tomcak dominated under the basket, snagging 8 rebounds each. D. Meyer and Martin both had 5 rebounds, while Chase Luther and Heard each got one. As for assists, D. Meyer led the team with 5, but Tomcak was not far behind with 4 assists while C. Luther had 2, and H. Luther had 1 assist. C. Luther, Tomcak, Heard, and Martin all snatched 1 steal against the Pendragons. Head Coach Kevin Janata commented, “Another night, another defensive battle with Pender. In a back-and-forth game, we took an early lead but went on an offensive drought in the second quarter. With both teams knotted up at 16 at halftime, we did a better job taking advantage of our opportunities on offense, and we also knocked down some big shots, hitting 4 of our 5 three-pointers in the second half. Free throws also came up big in the second half with us hitting 8 of 10 from the line to seal the game late.” The boys moved on to the EHC Championship Game against the West Point-Beemer Cadets.
