Jaguars compete at the state quarterfinal

On Wednesday, March 13, the Jaguars would travel to Lincoln to compete in a state tournament quarterfinal matchup against the Dundy County Stratton Tigers. In the first quarter, the Jags would outscore the Tigers 14-12. In the second, the Jags would outscore the Tigers 11-4, bringing the score to 25-16 at the end of the first half. Out of halftime, both teams would score 10 points, bringing the score to 35-26 going into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the Jags outscored the Tigers 19-14, making the final score 54-40. When asked about the game, Coach Janata said, “ The Jags got out to a quick start, quickly getting out to a 10 to 0 lead early in the first quarter, but DCS responded with their own run, and the first quarter ended up with the Jags up two. Our defense really settled in the 2nd quarter, and we were able to win the second quarter 11 to 4 to take a 9-point lead into the break. Both teams scored 10 points in the thirds, and DCS pulled to within 6 in the fourth, but some timely shooting allowed us to get the victory.” The Jaguars will play on Friday, March 14th, against the Bancroft Rosalie Panthers at the Devaney at 10:45 a.m.
